For Sale: 1989 Volvo 740 Turbo (Spax/Bilstein/Pbushes)
For sale is my 1989 Volvo 740 Turbo.
Its a pre-facelift car with a manual gearbox (4-spd + o/d) and has done 127k. Over the last ten months I have done extensive work to the car, including: New Spax 25mm lowering springs New Bilstein yellow and blue shock absorbers New polyurethane bushes all round New headlining New brake pads, discs and re-con calipers all round New brake master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder New cambelt Four new Hankook tyres Full service (oil, filter, plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, air filter, breather, coolant, gearbox oil, diff oil) Plus many other bits and pieces, including a load bay cover and plastic load bay protector. Six months MoT and Tax. It is an excellent car, now in fine condition (definitely one of the best in the country) and I will be very sad to see it go. Not many Mk I manual Turbos around now, so looking for £1850 for it. Genuine reason for sale. Any questions, drop me a PM - would be great if it could go to an enthusiast/club member. Keith |

Wasn't this in a magazine not long ago? Looks fantastic. Good luck with the sale.

Hi FossiFish,
The car has been in Practical Classics magazine fairly regularly for the last ten issues or so. Keith |

This looks and is far better than a 940 sports if I had balls I will sell mine for this. That black sports you was interested in is nice but this looks very tasty, I for one will be envious of the new owner. Hope you get it

cant send pm`s yet but my email is
jonathanmortimer345@btinternet.com am currently waiting on an insurance settlement on my Nissan laurel that was driven over by a tractor. whilst I realise that I cant expect you to hold the 740 for me, I am very interested and would be a cash buyer. also a "hand over" pic in practical classics would be ace (and confirm my wifes fears about my sanity lol). am off to see if my father in law has the back issues, had to use my last one to get the chuffing wood burner going with damp logs, lol. |

The car looks fantastic and you've done lots of nice jobs to it recently which makes it well worth the asking price.
The number plate got me thinking, i remember seeing this car for sale many years ago (2006 in fact), bit of a search in my records and voila, here is the gumf from the for sale advert back then. Advert from 2006, the car had 92,000miles at the time. 1989/F Volvo 745 Turbo Intercooler: A beautiful, original and genuine low mileage classic Volvo high-performance estate finished in the best colour they made these "Turbobricks" in - Deep Blue Metallic with unmarked blue 1/2 leather interior with plush velour inserts. This one has the best provenance you will come across - full stop. It was the MD of Bells Volvo of Northampton's demonstrator car for 2 months before being sold to a fastidious gentleman who cherished this car between 1989-2003, the car sporting a Full Volvo Service History from the above-mentioned main dealer for that period. The current registered lady owner of 3 years has continued this high level of maintenance at Romar Independent Volvo Specialists of Bletchley. Every single invoice and MoT from new, the biggest invoice dossier I have ever seen! Standard equipment: 4-speed + Overdrive manual transmission, PAS, ABS, central locking, e/windows x 4, e/mirrors, e/sunroof, e/aerial, tinted glass, Volvo light alloy wheels, spoiler-mounted front foglights, Volvo radio/cassette stereo system. Fuel economy is around 25 mpg which is very reasonable for the size and weight of vehicle, not to mention the performance on tap. Utterly original, still sports original "Bells Volvo" number plates front & rear, not a speck of rust anywhere, original paintwork. Comprehensive letter from original owner attesting that the car has never been involved in an accident nor broken down. Arguably too smart to be used as a heavy-duty workhorse, this pristine 745 Turbo will suit the most discerning of Volvo enthusiasts, and I doubt you will find another anywhere near this good in a hurry - quite simply it ticks all the boxes. Not the cheapest but this one has half the typical mileage, total service history and is absolutely outstanding in every respect. |

The old girl comes with quite a history file. It's a great car.
I'll upload some more pics tomorrow. Keith |
