Advice please electric seat panel / general advise needed
Hi there
posted on the general forum but advised that I ought to post here as some helpful and knowledgable XC90 owners on here ! I'm now the proud owner of the XC90, bought privately with a few issues but nothing too major I hope ! My question first is the panel for the electric seat was badly damaged and I just took it to Volvo for a service and a replacement control panel. This was fixed by Volvo but the sponge seat below the leather is still visable . Have they installed it properly ?? Various other parts ordered were incorrect so I know have to take it back again . Various other cosmetic things could do with replacing such as the electric window buttons are cracked and the light out on the volume button . Volvo advised me that both these things need replacing in their entirety . Which seems costly to fix a few niggly things ?? I can upload a photo of the seat . The stitching on the seat has come undone ( not ripped ) on both front seats but Volvo have advised to replace the whole seat !!! Seems extreme when it just needs restitching . Sorry I've gone off subject slightly ! Any advice will be gratefully received ! Thanks Zoe |

Hi Edmund
Yes that's exactly it ! The same place on both seats . Just been reading your post actually . Not sure if the fact that the stitching needs replacing is also effecting the control panel on the seat that I've just had replaced ? Volvo have failed to tuck the side in and the sponge below now showing through . |

My best suggestion is to take the seat out and take it appart, it's really simple. Took me about 45 minutes in total.
Taking the metal clips out was the hardest part but I took others advice and used cable ties to secure it all back, the approach works well. Remember to disconnect the battery first though, don't want any airbags going off by accident. |

Actually, I see you are in Romsey, I'm just the other side of Lymington if you want to meet at some point if you need help - I've got VIDA also. Although I'm quite busy with the family a lot of the time but happy to try and help if I can.
