Default 12S electrics

My 06 XC70 has single electrics fitted on the tow bar.

I would like to fit 12S so that I can use the fridge and reversing lights when towing the outfit.

Local Volvo dealer can only offer a converison to 13 pin electrics - which I would greatly prefer not to use.

Does anyone know if Volvo supply a dedicated loom for the 12S electrics?

thanks in advance

I recently fitted the thirteen plug to mine and if i remember correctly they did offer the 12n/12s version but reading the instruction manual(i know, unusual for a bloke) the plug in required various pins to be changed around but could be done.

Thanks for replies and links - useful.

But, do we assume the Volvo electrics will not get upset when I hang the caravan reversing lights off the same circuit . This will inevitably increase the load on that circuit.

Or

Do I need a relay?

What I would really like to know is, is there a wiring loom for 12S manufactured by anyone that plugs straight into the Volvo harness? I would greatly prefer to do this rather than use scotch lok connectors onto the Volvo harness.

Thanks again

i have never come across one, its either 7 pin or 13 pin 12s is not an option for dedicated looms.

in link 2 that jim has put up is quiet easy to do i have done this on my v70 2004 straight from the battery, i have the 13 pin dedicated loom, the reason that i had to go down this route because whoever fitted the tow bar prior to my getting the car they had cut that wire at the dem end god knows why.as for tapping in to the reverse light i can see no reason why it would put any extra load on the cars loom if you think that it would you could always put in an inline fuse.
