A 242 on the road! That's one hell of a spot Jim!

Was followed on a slip-road off the A30 on Monday by a red Estate. Came alongside at the next roundabout, cheery waving and we went on our way. Don't know if it's a local car or someone on holiday, but good to see another 240 on the road, they're a bit of a rarity nowadays.

The owner of the blue Estate that I saw in Bodmin a few weeks back had a chat with me outside Sainsbury's last week. He was in his immaculate Rover 3500 but uses the Volvo regularly too. Apparently he'd had to scrap his lovely GLT Estate but swapped the interior into his current car. We were on waving terms years back, long before I knew much about Volvos, as I met up with him and his wife from time to time professionally. They only lived a few miles away from where I was living at the time, so I knew the cars quite well. The Volvo has a very distinctive personal reg. number which has been transferred to the 'new' Volvo.

I'd forgotten about this until I was sorting some pictures. Quite a surprise to drive into a pub car park and be able to park next to another 240!

Default Bronze 240 seen

.....this afternoon driving west along the A27 near Arundel, a saloon in good condition driving the opposite way to me - was it you? Unusual colour nowadays - same as on my early 740.
I was in my blue 240 estate with its distinctive antique-dealers full-length roof rack. You tooted me quicker than I could respond - sorry.

Default Today was a good day!

Went on a little road trip today in the 145 from near Ringwood to Bristol and saw more 240's in that trip than I have seen in the past few months!

Firstly there was a silver G-reg estate between Warminster and Frome, waves exchanged!

Then we passed a pair of silver esates in a driveway that have been there for many years, at least 10 years I would say since I first saw them! On our return trip we stopped and took a sneaky snap from the roadside (have tried to attach a picture but PC says no!)

Next there was a dark grey estate with purple (!) wheels and trim in Bristol, again waves exchanged!

Then we saw another silver estate just outside Bath and again, waves exchanged!

Finally we saw what I think might have been the first silver estate again (G***WOT) on our way home but it was dark so no waves and not 100% sure on colour!

All in all a sucessful days "spotting" I'm sure you'll agree and 150 mile trouble free round trip from the 145!

White J-reg (J***RRU) 240 estate in Three Legged Cross, Dorset a few minutes ago.
Also saw a lovely white P1800 with Minilites in Longham, Dorset at gone 11pm last night!
No pictures of either I'm afraid as i was driving both times!
