'07 S60 D5 SE 'Fuel Module' Limp Mode
Hi all,
Hope this is the right location for this post, and hasn't been covered previously. Searched all over, and read all threads regarding the ETM issue, but not sure if this affects my car or if it's related to my issue. My S60 has done 75K (all but the first £5K by me), and two weeks after the 70K main dealer (Bedford) service, the engine system management service warning light coupled with 'limp mode' happened. Loss of power, little revs, and ages to get up to 70 to get home on M11. Bedford put the car under test, and came back with faulty fuel module - £277 plus vat plus fitting - total £440 (ish). I asked if this was simply a plug-in unit, and was told no, it is a module which contains moving parts - cogs, etc, and was definitely noisy, and they were unable to reset the 'limp mode' for this fault (they did try). This is the first 'fault' with the car since new, that hasn't been picked up during a service. My questions are: 1) Can anyone comment on this issue (previous experience, common fault)? 2) Is it related to the ECM fault? 3) Is there an independent Volvo specialist that can sort this and all future servicing locally - cheaper? Thanks, Carl. |

what is a "fuel module " not a term recognised !
Possibly the throttle flap which shuts when you turn the engine off ? Makes a horrible grinding noise?

A blocked old, fuel filter would show the same symptoms.
Just in front of the rear wheel arch, drivers side. It has a drain tap to filter any water in case this is the problem. Give it a go. |
