Overhaul of Steering arms etc
I know it's been a while, but I'm still here, pounding away 70 miles a day, and racking up close to 13,000 miles since I purchased my 122S last April. I'm quite proud of that, and do you know what? Not a single major problem with the car. (I won't mention the O/D!) She flew through the MOT in January, with no work required other than a replacement foot switch for the high beams.
She is beginning to show sings of being kept out doors come rain or shine, with just a few orange spots beginning to show. Nothing heavy though, so as the weather improves, I intend to tackle them a few at a time. I'll treat with rust killer and then prime, I'm not worried about top coat at the moment as I've no where to spray properly anyway. I'm getting ideas of a colour change also, but no money to do that professionally, only option would be lots of Halfords' finest cans followed by rubbing compound and polish etc...but I'm not convinced about the durability of that in the long term...
One question, looking under the car all the tie and steering rods etc at the front end are flakey and surface rusty, I'd like to remove them, clean and repaint, then underseal?? before putting them back on. Is that feasable to do with the car on the road without the engine falling out, or wheels collapsing while all the bits are off, and what should I replace all the rubber bits with, (are there options or do I just ask for the parts from Simon?)
