Sorry - yes I do mean the ES.
Just come across something that suggests the ES to SE difference is now £2000 to reflect the extra SE bits. As I have been told the D5AWD ES is £29295 - & assuming metallic stays at around £625 & auto at around £1450 that will make the list price ES (my2010 S) £31370 compared to last years £30570 An XC60 D5AWD SE My2011 with metallic & auto £33370. This compares with £32070 for the My2010. Please note that I am not guaranteeing the accuracy of these numbers. I just totally made them up . |

I spoke to a few people today and here are the results of the MY '11 jury:
Volvo Customer Services: We are hoping to update the website with the new specification in the next 4 or 5 weeks, but hopefully sooner. We are hoping to get the dealers MY '11 specs in the next 4 or 5 weeks too. Harratts Volvo 1: - salesman too busy. Harratts Volvo 2.: Official Volvo specs for MY '11 will be available from April 1st and for the Active model the Xenon Lights will be deleted from standard spec. No other changes on the Active model. Anticipated price increase - around 2.5% across the board. Upshot - no official availability of specs yet. Great marketing by Volvo - increase the price and lower the spec. |

But beyond that, I can only pull out, get my (small) deposit back and wait much longer, if I want to rejoin the queue. I am planning to reserve my right to withdraw from the deal up to the last minute, unless entirely happy. |

I wonder if the free 3 years servicing for XC60 orders placed by 31st March is valid for My2011. It occurs to me that dealers might be accepting orders but are Volvo confirming the orders to dealers & thus the servicing promotion.

And given they already put the price up by more than the VAT increase (Active base price went from £29,995 to £30,995) on Jan 1st this additional increase now , coupled with drop in specification is a double hit.
I make a like for like change of .... Oct 2009 - List of £29,995 Jan 2010 - List of £30,995 April 2010 - add on new 2.5% increase ( £31,770) add back Active Bending lights cost to match spec - List of £32,770 Total increase of just under £3K The VAT increase on the Oct 2009 price should have accounted for £650 so the rest is increase to profit to Volvo. Although on top of all of this is the new showroom tax to pay for at first registration , but possibly that is covered by the 2.5% price increase ? I guess it shows that someone in Volvo thinks they got the spec / price of the Active wrong given the demand there is and that they should increase prices. No bad thing for residuals on MY2010 XC90's. |

Ok d3
Personally I think the new D3 engine bound for the XC60 will probably be just fine as the BHP is about the same as the original XC60 and torque is a touch more I think. The extra economy will be welcome and with a bit of luck there may be an auto that is reasonably economical.
Perhaps a few owners of the original 163bhp XC60 can tell us how happy they are with the level of performance. Last edited by Daleman; Mar 16th, 2010 at 17:42. |
