My V90 has just had its third service and is now on its second set of rear brake pads in 45k. I am certain that my almost constant use of ProPilot is the reason for going through them so much. Crazy dealer price to replace them aside of course lol

I wonder if this might be involved in the quick wear on your pads?

£433 just for pads? No way.

The V60 and XC90 are not so different and I paid £179 for rear pads all fitted at a Volvo main dealer about a year ago now. So with a bit of inflation, and maybe regional differences you really should be able to target circa £200 fitted at a main dealer for any SPA car.

I think maybe it was pads and disks? Or they made a mistake? Or they think you are a moron and want to steal £200 from you.

My money is on pads and disks.....

Reading a lot of threads which mention premature rear pad wear on the previous generation and now the current crop of cars. I have long held a sneaking suspicion that the accelerated wear could be down to use of adaptive cruise control. I am not certain how the system works but I would think that small speed adjustments would be made through the rear brakes and only the front brakes would be brought into play for firmer braking. Driving the same route without cruise I probably use the brakes 70-80% less just by using acceleration sense.

As a good example my previous XC60 didn't have ACC and at 4 years old was still on the original disks and pads, my brother bought the car off me and he has had the car just over a year and had it recently serviced and there is still ample wear left in the originals.

There's some good videos on Youtube about brake pad change. Looks an easy job. Shop around for the best price of parts. Volvo prices seem high even for aftermarket parts, not sure why.
