Thank you for that.

This motor car is interesting.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304221593...p2471758.m4703

It appears to have everything going for it: one previous owner, only 41,000 miles, lots of history, looks nice... probably every bit as good as that one that sold for £10,100 last week... but it failed to reach its reserve at £5,100 in the last auction. The seller is having another go, maybe this is a bit like brewing home made wine - if you keep putting it into the strainer it all gets through in the end.

In spite of that motor car selling for £10,100, I still think 240s top out at about £6,000 - so we'll see if this one reaches its reserve this time :-).

Absolutely yes, that is why it didn't make its reserve at £5,100 last time!

Alan

PS. I rather suspect the seller is looking for £6,000 - but I doubt he/she will get it as 240s hardly ever make that much.

Having thought about this I think you are right, here is one of the feedback messages from the seller's account:

Won the auction then was told it was already sold. Do not use this seller

Sour grapes I'm afraid. Buyer was informed item was sold but still bid. Idiot!
It looks to me like the seller is just using eBay to advertise his business and get buyers on the hook. I'd be a little bit cross if I were the buyer of that 240 (at about £7,000 perhaps), had paid a deposit and I saw it still being advertised on eBay, but it would appear that is exactly what is happening. I don't believe for a moment that Volvo 240 made £10,100 - I think the last £3,000 was shill bidding.

A bit of a shady dealer methinks!

:-)

I've seen antique dealers pay exorbitant prices for each other's items. This creates perceived value in the eyes of those not in the know, of anything. It's a way of putting prices up.
God knows , it's made some wealthy people on the Stock Exchange!!!!!

Do you think that was just a software glitch on eBay's part perhaps?
