UPDATE

XC70 booked in next week with our local
Volvo specialist
to check the anti-skid warning.

The price, offers considered, takes into account the warning.
(not an MOT failure).

Regards.

I'm sorry, if I disrupt your thread, but what are the errors you get with the anti-skid? Do you have VIDA to read the codes? I have done some extensive research about this, as I had this message for over a year...

Hi. No problem.

The display in the car randomly says “Anti-skid temporarily off” and then sometimes says “Anti-skid Service required”.

I am not sure what the code was my friendly local garage saw. He said it had stored something about a “communication error”? but he was not using VIDA. I have had this on another Volvo, which turned out to be a cracked ring on the hub of the front left wheel. Easy fix.

I do have a brand new unused VIDA, but I am now too ill to set it up and use it. I will be selling the VIDA soon. I bought it from Cheshired5 on this forum as I never intended to sell the XC70 so soon. We love it.

My local Volvo specialist have all the proper code readers for Volvo, so they will tell me more next week. The car will be dropped off on Monday and they can look at it as and when they want, as we are not using it.

I will keep the thread updated when I know more.

By the way...Munich? Lovely area, especially this time of year. Lucky guy. Had a few meetings in Ottobrunn in a previous life.

Kind regards

My anti skid service warning on the XC70 was caused by communication issues between the haldex unit and the main ECU. It disabled the 4WD and required a new command module for the diff to resolve. Not saying this is your issue but it sounds familiar - although I understand the anti-skid service warning can be triggered by a range of things. I didn't get the warning message past my MOT guy either.

If you search my old threads there's probably more info that might help?

Thanks Nick45. If I was well enough, I would disconnect the Haldex electrical plug and give it a squirt of electrical cleaner, re-seating the plug. Unfortunately I can no longer do that, so will have to see what my Volvo specialist comes up with. They know Volvos inside out and I will take their advice.

The car has just been MOT’d with the warning and it PASSED with no problem as it’s a warning and not a light on the dash. My XC70 has a 13 month MOT on it at the moment, as shown at the top of this thread.

Thanks for your input. I will post the Volvo Specialist thoughts when they have checked it out. Kind regards.

Hi all. Unfortunately I have been taken ill again and emergency admitted into hospital. Looks like my XC70 might not make it to the Volvo specialist next week as its currently in the disabled slot of the hospital car park.
