Finally I attempted it today but after removing the air filter box, I couldnt spot the transmission oil fill plug/nut and had to close down everything back.

I am not sure how to attach an image to this msg. hence put it over here,

would be really helpful if you can spot the nut in the above photo to open up and fill in the xmission fluid.
Thank you.

Mine is a volvo xc60 2014 D4 AWD manual transmission. MMT6 gearbox.
HI Jay
Unfortunately you will not find the Manual gearbox filler / drain plugs under the Air box... they are positioned around the nearside inner driveshaft / gearbox housing and you'll have to remove the wheel & tyre to gain clear access. Remember to alway remove the filler plug (top one) first just incase you're unable to open the lower drain plug. ATB

Here are a few pix to illustrate the Manual 6 Speed gearbox oil fill & drain plug location on my '09 XC60 D5 AWD for anyone who's unsure.
First two pix show the fill plug location and the last two the drain plug. I hope this helps.

Default Manual Gearbox Oil Change

I changed the manual gearbox oil at 70,000 miles on my XC60 D3 2.0 and it shifted that bit more smoothly when cold. I found that the genuine and correct oil from Volvo is hardly more expensive than off the shelf oils at Halfords. Changing the oil plug copper washers is a must.

When I did my gearbox oil change back in May this year, Halfords was the only place that was opened and had the correct "Comma" gear oil in stock due to the "You know what" VOLVO dealers were firmly shut during that time.
I agree about using fresh copper washers being a "must" to prevent potential leaks.

You're welcome Jay. Also forgot to previously mention... 24 mm socket or a spanner is the drain plug size and I can not stress this enough... always undo the fill plug first, before the drain plug.
Best of luck with your gearbox oil change.
