Red brake servo booster seal from Poland
Hi Everyone
Has anybody who has fitted the replacement Polish red brake servo booster seal had it fail or leak again after a year of so? Just checking since I am getting hissing noises again. Possibly wasn't fitted correctly. Will need to check. Cheers P. |

I had mine fitted by a garage and it just started hissing a little today.
Hard to say if the garage made a mistake or not. The seal seemed good quality

I am going to try putting some more PTFE grease on the shaft and around the seal to see if that helps.

Careful with the grease. The replacement seal is made from silicone rubber.
The correct grease for that is a fluorosilicone grease evidently, not the supplied dielectric silicone grease. Is the supplied lubricant causing premature seal failure??? |

My kit came supplied with Silicon grease with PTFE in it, is this not the same as fluorosilicone grease?

Aha, I think I know why these seals are failing, they are made of silicone and they are providing a silicone-based lubricant with it.
My understanding is that you aren't supposed to use silicone grease/lube with silicone seals.

Precisely; that's my understanding too. So what is the best lubricant to use?

Also it is quite thick which should help with the already failing seals in our cars. I think there is an official grease supplied by Volvo.
