Default Service interval clarification?

Having come from years of VAG vehicles using their longlife service schedule i am a bit confused with my V60D6 hybrid. The car was last serviced at 49k miles last December by the previous owner and has covered about 7k miles since. When i check the service read out it says next due in 9000 miles and also says 1 month. So which is it?

Always the first of 1 year or the mileage.

So I am guessing the last service was done Dec 2019.

Locally you have 1000km or one month leeway if you want to retain the warranty.

it is every 18000 miles or 12 months which ever comes first , you need to get back on schedule . It is important servicing is done correctly , the aux belt and tensioner is unique to your engine and has to be changed on certain services an independant is not going to be familiar with your cars servicing requirements ..or able to do the service software updates .

to answer the question it is which ever comes first, in your case it is one month as it was serviced last December ... so best plan to get it looked at now .👍

Thanks and as i suspected, hence asking now so can get it booked in before the year end. An additional cost on top of everything else that will ensure my next car is back to VW group product.

Wow, I shall also be switching to VAG if they have free servicing that you can have whenever you want!

I think hes on about their 2 year or 20k service intervals. Obviously makes running costs cheaper but then also means somethings go unchecked for too long.

Exactly like brakes and tyres which CAN wear out in 20,000 miles .. very few people check their own brakes and tyres .

Technically, there isn't much between the intervals though.

VW - Two years or 20k (whichever comes first) equates to 10,000 miles a year based on mileage alone.
Volvo's is 1 year or 18k (whichever comes first).

If a VW was being used regularly (motorway driving etc), you'd complete the VW "two year service interval" by mileage alone in the same time as Volvo's 1 year/18k interval. So, if you did 20k in the VW in a year, you'd need to service it anyway because then it would be based on hitting the miles first, as opposed to the time. In circumstances like that, its not exactly a "extended" interval, is it?

As I say, if the car was being used daily, that could occur quite quickly. If anything, these "long intervals" are just marketing blurb. "Two years or 20k" in a VW, but if Volvo did two year service intervals, you'd have done 36k (based on 18k a year). So really, these long intervals are rubbish (for a car that is being actively used anyway).

It does make me chuckle though. People buy an expensive car new, or pay a fair premium for a used one & then moan about having to do an annual oil change.
