Dual Mass Flywheel M90 (wanted)

Thanks, reassuring to hear they are robust. The car has been restored and most of the components new so would like a decent one to match, that and it would be nice if this was the last time I had to take the box off

I always suggest binning the DMF as it is super heavy and slows engine response plus its another thing to go wrong.
There is a down side to doing a SMF conversion and that is if you spend lots of time sat it traffic you can start to hear a litlle rattling noise from the gearbox when out of gear. The rattle is caused by the shaft layout. Bear in mind the diesel with the same gearbox only came with a SMF flywheel. The slight noise was drowned out bu the engine. I would consider anything below 160,000 miles low and below 100,000 miles a miracle. I used to just bin all of mine but now send them abroad where there is demand for them. They start to fail by rattling and can eventually fall apart. Increaseing the boost is often a quick way to failure with them |
