Front Brake Pads
Looking to order some new brake front brake pads for my 2013MY Executive. The website I'm looking at shows 2 types of genuine Volvo pads to fit either 16" (316mm) or 17" (336mm) discs. Short of crawling underneath and measuring is there an easy way to discover which disc size I have?

I thought all XC90 were 336?
You could always use a main dealer seller like volvopartstrade on eBay like I did. Give them your reg and they send the right stuff with guaranteed fit and quality.

^^^^^^ That
All UK spec XC90's from 163D5 to 4.4V8 have 336 mm discs.

If you want to be sure, measure it. I had it with my first D5, the previous owner did a change to the bigger size, better he ordered the car from Volvo with the bigger brakes because of the ordered alloys...

Not too happy with volvopartstrade. Rear pads ok. I ordered the front ones as well. After the order had gone through I decided that, to be on the safe side, I'd order the discs (4) as well. I messaged them to ask if I could order the discs on their own (they don't list them separately) and was told that I had ordered the wrong front pads. I asked why and pointed out that I had checked the compatibility chart and my vehicle was on the list. They said that the part listed on their site was a very rare one (only 1% of XC90's produced). Turns out the part number is for vehicles with 17.5 inch discs. There is nothing on the site to say this. My car has 17 inch discs.
I live in France so, presumably, I now have to get the part returned to them. They don't actually list the (common) parts I need.

That's strange as they normally won't supply anything without a reg or chassis number first to ensure compatibility.
Unless yours has had some kind of change by a previous owner since new? I don't know.

I've had it since new so nothing has been changed. Also, why list a part that only fits 1% of XC90's made without warning people. In fact, the parts that I need are the same as the XC60 ones.

Your best sending volvopartstrade a message with your chassis number or reg number. If not, phoning is another option & they usually answer the phone quickly to be fair. I find that they respond to Ebay messages quickly, usually within business hours on the day you enquire if you're lucky, or the next working day at the latest.
I tend not rely on the generic "check if this part fits your car" list. I tried that with wiper blades & it turns out that the ones that came up as being the correct ones actually weren't. Its a good job I messaged them to double check! Admittedly, they probably could do with updating their online store with more listings for parts that they actually sell, but for some reason don't list online & maybe give it a tidy up at the same time (if that makes sense). It gets a bit confusing looking at multiple parts that all look the same, I find anyway. I suppose that's why they say to message/phone first to double check with them before ordering parts on most of their listings. Although, this should be noted on all adverts to make it clearer (some say do this, some don't I've noticed). There's not much point having a list that says "check if this part first your car" if its not exactly accurate either, so I can understand why some may be annoyed when they receive the wrong parts! I guess that ball is in their court though & its not down to me to tell them what they should/shouldn't do after all! So far, I've found their service to be decent & they're reasonably priced too. Message/phone next time would be my advice.
