Default Australian 164 - Advice please!

G'Day!

I have been a Volvo owner for 10 years, most recently an 850 T5 (Gone to a new, loving home this weekend - there to be very pampered by the sounds of it!). I even had the 'pleasure' of owning & driving an 18 year old, bright yellow 244GL, 250,000 miles, for 6 months in Australia three years ago.

Well I was back in Oz this Feb, and I was offered a job! I am now in the process of applying for my visa, and hope to be out in Sydney by the end of May.

That means I am on the look out for a nice set of wheels. I had considered going for an Impreza Evo 7. Then horse-whipped myself and resumed my search for a Volvo... I found a great company that sells all sorts of 'Classics/luxury' cars. Originally I was looking at an 850R, but then this yellow 164 GLE caught my eye...

The thing is, although it looks like a great car in need of an enthusiastic, loving, Volvo fan (er, that's me), I want to be sure that if such a vehicle was available when I get to Oz, I know what to look for.

I am interested in anything specific with this type of car that I should be looking for before I part with my readies.

The car is up for sale at AUS$7,500, which is about £3100. It has only done 85,000km, around 53,000miles! AND one lady owner!

I would love to own a car like this, but any pearls of wisdom before I get too carried away would be gratefully received!

Regards,

Chris
