Bear in mind there are a lot of them out there and you read more horror stories as people don't tend to post ' Have one.. no issues'. Google almost any brand of car and engine variant you will find horror stories.

It's just over 4 years old. The Volvo service history swung it so worth sticking with.

Default 2015 - still on original EGR

Just caught up with this thread. My 2015 V70 D4 still has the original top hose with T junction and therefore no final EGR fix applied. I've had it since it was a year old and 16k on the clock.

It now has 42k and I'm beginning to wonder if it's a case of when, not if, it will fail.

That said, it's been problem free apart from needing a new exhaust sensor (under warranty) when that sooted up and lit up the emissions light.

I only use premium diesel but with lots of short runs broken up with the odd longer run pulling the caravan.

So I'm either very lucky, or about to be hit with a big bill?

I have noticed how the engine has started to get a bit rougher around 1700rpm since it was about 2 years old, and there is a slight hesitation around those revs when cold.
But fuel economy is fine and power is good...so all is well...touch wood!

There are many which do not have the problem , it's external circumstances which cause it , condensation in the cooler makes soot stick to it , It does not help that there is a 180 degree change in direction through the cooler unlike the older 5 cylinder engine where the soot goes straight through so much more difficult for soot to stick to the walls . .All you can do is press on and rely on volvo's goodwill which is pretty good .

Makes sense. Is it worth sticking with the premium diesel do you think? Will that help?

I'm happy to pay the extra if it keeps these kinds of demons away, but the extra cost stings a bit. Had my first tank over a £100 the other day...

Cool !
My V60 D4 is from february 2014, about 120000 kilometers.
The problem has started october 2017 at 83000.
Volvo doesn't nothing.

So I will buy oil and hope it will last a while ...

Would you mind to send me your VIN number to refer to my local dealer?

Thanks
