Drone noise from the rear
My 2010 T6 with only 93k miles has started to make a "droning" noise from the rear of the car and I suspect a wheel bearing. Since generally the car is exceptionally quiet it is noticeable but not (yet) loud - in a more noisy car it would probably not be heard.
Any advice on how I can confirm whether it is a wheel bearing and on which side it is? What else can it be?

I have the same issue and have have come to the conclusion it is the tyres.
I am running on Goodyear Wranglers which have a blocky type tread pattern. Will not be fitting them again for that reason alone. Had them on my Discovery with no noise issue but as you say the quietness of the Volvo does highlight noise and I strongly suspect it to be the tyres in my case. So I would not rush to condemn the wheel bearings before eliminating tyre noise as a possible cause. I will be trying Michelin Cross Climates next time and see if they are quieter. |

As above it could be tyres if you have changed any recently.
If it is wheelbearings they will often go quiet when loading them sideways, i.e. going around a long curve. If it does go quieter it will most often be the outside wheel bearing that is worn. You could also see if one side is hotter than the other after a drive (depends how bad it is). Otherwise jack up one side after the other and see if there is more play or noise in one side or the other. (Discount any possible drag from the brakediscs) |

Rotate your tyres first.
If no luck then it's a wheel bearing.
