Default V70 R-Design Wheel Refurb

Are the 2013 r-design wheels diamond cut?

To my knowledge diamond cut wheels are easily damaged/subject to corrosion / not safe for use with acidic wheel cleaners / not great in winter due to the road salt and generally not as robust as a normal wheel.

Has anyone had their wheels refurbished? Are they indeed diamond cut? Has anyone taken their wheels down a single tone route- do you have any pictures?

Thanks in advance

.

I too am interested to hear folks views on this as I have at least one of my wheels that could do with some TLC.

This link explains what you are up against with diamond cut wheels

It's going to be costly and that's if they can be done. Note there's no warranty on the work, the other option is to have them powder coated.

Great info Splodger, thanks. May end up being more economical to replace 1 of my Xions with a new one.

Default You could try a painted repair?

I had corrosion to one of my diamond cut wheels. See picture attached. I had a mobile paint repair guy coming anyway for another job on the car body and asked him what he could do for the wheel. He did say that a full repair was a specialist job and he did not have the equipment, but he went ahead with a very good patch repair using matching silver/grey paint and a clear lacquer finish. One year later and the wheel still looks as good as new. Cannot see the repair at all.

His name is Paul and he covers the Bristol, Bath, Trowbridge area. Not sure how far out he travels. See this link: www.paintmedic.co.uk There may be similar mobile guys closer to you who can do the job?

Cheers,

Andy

May be worth investing in a set of winter wheels to protect your diamond cut alloys from most of the harsh winter road conditions!
