Unhappy power steering pump

Hi all need some advice....i have a serious leak of fluid from my power steering pump on my 1999 S40 1900 Diesel is this easy to replace any special tools needed to do it, it was a small leak which i thought was coming from a screrwed Hole in the right hand side of the pump above the steel pipe which enters the pump, thought a bolt may have worked loose but put new bolt in with copper washer and now it seems to leak from where i cant see behind alternator, so i am assumeing seals or such like has blown, i am trying to source one on tinternet but was wondering if its an easy job for diy or will it need a garage to fit it??.........any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated Thanks....

Fairly simple diy fit if you have the tools and experience.
No special tools required, just make sure you know the routing for the accessory drive belt before you remove it (I always find drawing a picture of it helps me!)
Then remove the tension from the drive belt, take off the belt.
Then you can undo the hydraulic connections and remove the pump, make sure you use something to collect all the spilled fluid.
I would try GSF for the new part, but be aware that some places will take the old unit in exchange, and charge you a hefty surcharge in between!
When you have refitted the new pump, refill the fluid reservoir and bleed the steering system through, then top up the system again before driving.
Bleeding is best done with the front wheels off the ground, engine running, taking the steering from lock to lock whilst making sure that the level doesn't drop too far. When you see all bubbles have gone from the fluid in the reservoir, your bleed is complete.

No idea what this lot are like, but they seem to stock recon units for your car.
