Default Fitting SatNav neatly to a 2015 XC60

I was disappointed to find the built-in media system in my 2015 XC60 has no SatNav as standard. While windscreen mounted aftermarket satnavs are common, I wanted something a bit neater. I found a solution with by making a small aluminium plate which attaches to the plastic frame surround with two screws. The wiring runs in behind the trim and down to the 12V socket via the 5V converter. This socket switches on/off with the car ignition - ideal.
The satnav I used is a Garmin DriveSmart 61 with 7" screen. It has wifi updates of maps for-life, connecting to your home wifi.

Ive attached pic of the plastic surround and solution. The hardest part is taking the trim apart but there are several videos on YouTube for guidance.

Its a pity there isn't a screen which you could run Apple Car Play through which would fit into the designated place..

Only a suggestion. Have you checked out Brodit Proclips ? They make holders for Sar Nav, phones etc for nearly everything , as well as fixings to Dash on most vehicles.

Well thought of. I didn’t even know you could get a 2015 XC60 without navigation.

yeah, I was surprised no SatNav, but experiencing hassle and cost with main dealer map updates on my Merc I'd rather have control of that aspect!

I too was unaware that some models had no satnav until I viewed one back in October from a main dealer. I was surprised when the sales person told me there was no satnav they also informed me that as it didnt have satnav it was only a 5 inch screen as opposed to the 7 inch with satnavmy response after test driving it was I like it but i'm not paying £15500 for a car without satnav
I eventually found what I was looking for with satnav included
