Well, my 2014 XC60 seems to have succumbed to the leaking radiator. Looks like a small weep around the offside bottom plastic/alloy join.
Having changed the intercooler on a previous XC90, I know access can be a pain, and the access to the rad on the XC60 looks worse, so I'm a little reluctant to give that a shot if there's an easier method. Has anyone ever tried K Seal? All the reports seem to be favourable, and supposedly it can't damage the coolant system. Thanks. |

I would put your K seal into the top hose so that it gets flushed straight to where it is needed .

Another rad leak
Just got home from a 200 mile drive in my new to me 2015 xc60 d5, coolant low level popped up. Had a look under the car spotted it straight away, drivers side lower corner of the rad is weeping. 86k and Full Volvo service history 5 stamps. Coolant is a yellow/very pale green colour. What are my options 😅

Hi Clan, I have only just purchased the car a month ago not from Volvo. Last Volvo service was done months before I brought it.
Yeah I did think the coolant was an odd colour, never seen yellow before especially in newer cars. Would it be worth me contacting Volvo about this? Can’t understand why they would use cheap coolant but sell a good coolant. Probably wouldn’t have happened if they put the good stuff in from factory... |

Sorry to hear of your leak. If you have no luck from dealer, it’s worth giving K-Seal a go (see my post a few above). I used it early this year and it seems to have done the trick.

Not a specific Volvo practice, cheaper coolant used at manufacture saves a shed load of money-increasing profit per vehicle-then they can stiff the paying customer for better stuff come service time-again increasing profit.Ross1990 did you buy your car from a trader? If so given you've only had it a month take it back to them as it should be warranted for a period of time from purchase.

K seal is indeed wonderful stuff in the unique way it works ... I would warm up the engine and put it directly in the top hose before going for a run , you get very quick results . but get the seller to pay for a volvo radiator..

Garage I purchased it from have said they will pay for new rad once I have it diagnosed by a garage. Will be using Volvo specialist not far from me. Will keep you updated. 👍🏼
