Default XC90 2.5t vibration when accelerating - should I buy?

I've been looking for a relatively cheap 2.5t and one has come up near me that's very reasonable (£2k with 120k on the clock). I did a test drive and when you plant your foot there was a small but noticeable vibration. It happens at any speed but only when you accelerate. You mostly feel it through the accelerator pedal and a bit of noise. The seller said 'it's always done that' but had no issues but I don't want to inherit a big bill.

Does anyone have ideas as to what it could be, if I could carry on with it for a while or what it could cost to sort?

thanks

Question Engine mounts?

Could be the engine mountings.
The top and bottom stabilisers wear but are easy and cheap to replace.
Top one is easy to see as it is on the top of the engine, have a look at it, is the big rubber bush split? (You will need to lift the engine cover off)
If it is also replace the bottom one it will probably be equally worn.
There are also two vacuum mounts and another mount that take the weight of the engine but on mine it was the stabiliser mountings and replacing them cured it.
About £100 for both I recall.

With 2.5t's the big problem with them is finding a reasonable one in the first place.... and it sounds like you have... I've just had a quick look on e-bay and there is only one UK car on there right now and that looks a bit of a project (but an honest one from what you can see).

Vibration could be a number of things, engine mounts, driveshafts etc. it might be that you take the view that it is "commensurate with the age and mileage".

Thanks for the replies. I've bitten the bullet so let's see how it goes. You can look forward to plenty of other XC90 questions.
