Default OBD2 dongle.

Just had a bluetooth code reader arrive (only 7 quid!) from Hong Kong. Been told there's an app for smart phone (android) which can be downloaded to read codes. Had a search and there's loads!

Anyone know the best one to go for please?

This sounds like a handy gadget.....the ones I've seen all seem to be for cars built after 2001, would anyone know if there is one available compatible with a 97 V70r please?
Maybe the car is just too old?
Thank you

I was lead to believe the same thing. OBD2 was post 2001. My car is a 98 however, and is definitely obd2. Worth a check under your arm rest as it is written next to the port.

Your V70r may be the same as mine.

I have torque pro app for use with the obd2 bluetooth dongle, it works on our 1999 V70R awd phase 3, but that said it is limited in what functions you can use and off the top of my head I can't remember what they were, ask the car has been mothballed for at least 12 months. The app is good and is only a few quid to download, a lot of people I know use it and on P1 v70r's

Torque app combined with a cheap OBD-II reader is fine for the ME7 (Turbo) or Denso (N/A) engine management systems but it will be hit and miss on anything prior to 99 on a V70 - Mike

I really surprised me seeing it on a 98. Volvo must've been pioneering it in Beta! lol

Mine's a '97 T5 and is OBDII compliant - I use my generic Autel scanner on it, no problems.
