New V90 R-Design Owner with a question...
Hi All,
I'm just getting to grips with my new V90 R-Design which replaced a 2016 Audi A6 Avant and and playing about with the settings and reading through the owners manual I've got a couple of questions that I wanted to ask.... 1. Front Parking Sensors - My V90 has them fitted but they don't work nor show in in the Parking assist menu, I've switched it on and off etc and only the rears work...albeit rather late when reversing... Is this a fault or have Volvo simply not enabled them in the cars software and if so is there a charge for getting them to do so? 2. Auto Dipping Mirror - Again I've looked through the menu and it doesn't appear to be there so is this another option that I need the dealer to address with a software fix FOC or at a cost? I've since discovered that I don't have the Built in Modem much to my disappointment (especially when my brothers new XC90 does) so I'll be ordering a Mi-Fi unit shortly to use in the car to save my mobile data. Over all initial impressions of the car are better than my old A6 but a few niggles like the ones above but I hope they can be address easily enough with a software fix, the seats are rather firm compared to the A6's but the Touchscreen system is light years ahead of the Audi's crap system. Also do any members have the Volvo software to make changes to the system or is it dealer only? I knew a couple of guys with the VAG software who did a couple of changes for me so was wondering if this was an option rather than the dealer..? Thanks in advance! |

Hi,
I had the same issue with my S90 R-Design. I took it to a dealer and they said my new car didn't have Volvo connect and front parking sensors(no cabling from the front to the dashboard, just dummy plugs). I found this incredible as it states on the website that R-Design come standard with these options. I will be going back to Volvo to find out the reason for this. |

The R Design doesnt come with front sensors or Volvo on Call.
Until MY19 which hasn’t been delivered as yet, these are extra’s or within packs. Autodimming mirror is standard though, I’m not sure if it has any controls though, I think its on all the time.

Check the Standard features.... Includes Front and Rear Park Assist Also Volvo On Call seems to be standard. I checked this over 2 months ago and Volvo confirmed they are standard. I'm sure mine is from an old batch. |

I suspect that you may have MY18 cars; Rear Park Assist only was standard on MY18 cars. MY19 cars have both Front and Rear Park Assist as standard.
If that is the case you can get Parking Assistance, Pilot as an accessory for which there will be a (possibly not inconsiderable) charge. MY18 cars did have the Autodimming mirror as standard. It doesn't actually 'dip', rather it dims to make the view look darker. If it isn't doing it then speak to the dealer. The built-in modem requires Volvo On Call, again not standard on R-Designs. Software changes require access to the Volvo VIDA system. Dealers have access and a good independent MAY have access to VIDA. |

It's unclear whether the OP means auto-dipping (ie when reversing) or auto-dimming. The former is selectable, the latter not.

I think you're looking at MY19 specs and none of them have been delivered yet as far as I know. The MY isn’t a bargain, they bumped up the prices to account for the extra spec.
My car has just arrived at the dealer from an order placed 10 weeks ago, its a MY18 and I had to add front parking and the pro pack to get VOC and the front sensors, I have the hard copy brochure from MY18 as well as the pdf. If I use the MY2019 spec for spec, its more expensive than the MY2018, I added the pro pack, park assist pilot, 4 zone climate, privacy glass and the 12.3’’ screen.

The auto-dipping door mirrors are dependent on also having the power driver seat with memory. Again, they don't come as standard.
