S40 boot gas strut function
Hi all,
I have recently notices (or rather my head has noticed) that the boot lid of my S40 does not fully open on it's own. I thought i'd check here before i throw parts at it. I know that gas struts can degrade slowly over time so i'm just not sure how the boot lid really should function and whether i'm just being fussy or they have actually degraded. So the question is: should the boot lid open all the way on it's own once you lift it past a "tipping point"? As it is at the moment the lid can be opened manually to any position and it pretty much just stays where it's left, I think when it's towards being closed it falls downward |

Thanks for the info, as I suspected. I've just ordered some new gas struts.

Mine swings itself open once past the tipping point too, so I think you have done the right thing ordering some replacements!
