Default T5/2.4i highest MPG

As my T5 has an MPG-ometer lets post our highest MPGS.

If i cruise through town 30/40mph it IS possible to keep 60mpg showing on the screen. I'm actually more falling towards highest mpg than spirited driving!

Reckon I can get real decent mpg on a motorway run if i try. Tis all in the foot!

Post your highest MPG for either T5 or 2.4i

I started doing something similar when I recently purchased a 2008 C30 T5 for my wife; it became a challenge to see how much better I could get the average MPG than my BSR PPCd V70 2.4T!

To begin with I was averaging 31.2MPG.

Now I just enjoy the car and both are absolutely identical according to the display (29.3MPG) and not far off in brim to brim and corrected distance reality (V70 28.9 and C30 29.0)

The only real contrast is that the C30 is more Jekyll and Hyde; higher highs when cruised at constant motorway speeds but drops quickly when poked with a stick. A bit of a drink problem, actually! The V70 is always between 27 and 30 MPG.

Mine keeps a pretty rock-steady 25.5mpg on my commute (reaching over 80mph regularly with lots of acceleration and a mix of cruising too - all over 11miles).

On a long motorway run I'll get 33mpg but I once famously held an 'average' of 39 coming back from Lincolnshire (poor car wondered what was going on).

I maintain that's it's not too good to pootle around at low revs in a bigg-ish petrol and lots of full-throttle blasts are in order to keep the exhaust side clean and oil nice and hot.

I can average 30 mpg running around town, going to work, shopping etc. Had it up to 39 mpg on longer motorway runs.

During recent return trip to Cardiff I got 36mpg using Super Unleaded. Stuck at 70 in cruise as I couldn't be bothered to go any faster.

Best average on a long motorway/A road journey - 33mpg
Average around town - 26mpg

Instantaneous mpg on the trip means almost nothing to me. It's akin to telling you how far down your foot it on the accelerator pedal.

I dont buy a powerful car for good MPG.

S80 T6 is around 20-23mpg depends on how I drive.
