Default First proper ride out today

Well, we took the V50 (2.0 SE deisel, 57 reg)out today for its first proper flogging and its really rather good isn't it? I think it handles and goes as good as our old Seat Leon FR 150 Tdi .

We went over to Loch Maree on the west coast of the Highlands, lovely fast (150mph+) flowing smooth road with little traffic (nearly all the tourists have gone now).

The car handles really well and takes the bends nicely even at speed, the dog in the back seems to like it too :-, but maybe not the dog guard ;-(.
It rides on Kuhmo tyres which seem ok, not too noisey and grip is good too, roads were either damp or dry.Wife likes the leather heated seats and easy to get comfy with the limitless adjustment too.

So it looks like we picked the right car after much searching around, and looking at A4 Avants. We paid about £12k for it with 34k miles and obviously FSH too, which seems about right up here as we seem to pay a bit more for our cars up here in the Twighlight Zone.

12k is about what I would have to pay for a 10 year old plain Avensis with 100k miles on the odo here in Norway

I was equally impressed when I picked up my S40 - straight away it was on a 90 mile trip to visit family and was very impressive. One thing I had to be careful of was being sucked in by other cars - it's such a quiet car, you don't realise how fast you're actually going until you look at the speedo in disbelief. Previous car was a 207GT and that was so frantic and buzzy that 65 was a natural cruising speed for it.

It's the same engine as yours and I'm guessing the same cosy winter pack for the heated seats?

Yes we have the 2 stage heated seats fitted, mmmm cosy.

As I was wafting along at 110 + even on the twisty bits, the wife though we were doing about 80 !! its is quite quiet and effortless.
