Default Software Update - OBC

I have the S Model and would really like the OBC - mainly for the "miles remaining" function, regardless of how spot on it actually is.

I went into my local dealer and when I asked they said its a couple of quid for the stalk but £300+ for the software update.

Is this right? Seems extortionate!

It was part of a £600 option pack that also had rain sensor cruise control and audio control on wheel. So they need to keep the price high or no one will pay for the options

The software costs a fortune... Volvo noticed how they could charge your balls off.

BC costed here as an option I think €100. Installing it after getting the car costs €420 - for the same software.

Think that depends what model you're speccing it on, as I have the cruise control and volume controls on the steering wheel.... but not the OBC or the rain-sensitive wipers. TBH I do not need the wipers function - I think it's pretty obvious when you need your wipers on and not hard to push a stalk to wipe.

I was just after the OBC for MPG/Miles Left function. I bought the car second hand so didn't get the option of speccing it from factory, 'else I would have done!

Know what is worse? Living here in D, people like to buy their cars abroad. Say in NL or B. The result is, the language being in a different language. So of course you can get a new language installed.

The original software patch "German" costed 2008 ~€33 incl. labor. A year later the same patch costs - not kidding - €320!
