What about this one - it's in Washington!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-VOLVO...gAAOSwqfNXpE5H

What damage can towing do?

1. Clutch if manual, not hard to check. Does it work smoothly and bite about halfway up?

2. Auto gearbox. Is the shift smooth, without clunking or vibration, is the fluid in a reasonable condition? Do the reverse lights work?

3. If auto, is there any service evidence of fluid changes?

4. Suspension. Does the rear suspension sit nice and level, and the car drive without any clunks or thuds from the rear end? Are the rear tyres evenly worn? So much the better if the car has standard rather than adjustable rear shocks

5. Does the MoT history suggest wear in the rear suspension?

6. Engine. Does the engine start and run smoothly, with no evidence of blue smoke, rattles, rumbles or any fluid losses?

7. Is it possible to find out what has been towed? Many tow bars never really get very much serious use.

These p1 V70s are immensely strong, well-engineered and capable cars. Don't let a tow-bar put you off buying one.

Cheers

Jack

It does look canny, well maintained and tidy but I'm not 100% sure of the auto and its the 140, ideally I was looking for 170 or a cheekly low pressure turbo. I appreciate its a Volvo and p1 so its probably as good as autos are going to be, it getting to be a tough decision, so many options, found this too;

I had a 170 V70 Classic in metallic red prior to my current car. Sofa on wheels was the way we described it (W665YER if anyone on here has it now). Part exchanged for the princely sum of £150 (it was tatty on the outside) but sad to see it go and an excellent and reliable servant in 10 years of ownership.

If you can find a good one (which this one has the potential to be based purely on the advert) then I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

That turquoise one looks a lot of car for 690 quid. What's not to like. The white block is a good tow-car, & ph1 V70 is arguably the last 'proper built Volvo' (even if it is fwd).
A 140hp with auto? Well that engine and that box ain't never gonna be overworked. Like the older Red-blocks, never stressed, they just get on with it and keep right on going

Oh soz, the 5-cylinder block is known as a white-block, as the block is white-ish. The rear wheel amazons, 100-900's engines (not all 300's tho, lol)were painted a vivid 'Volvo-red' and became known as 'red-blocks'.
Soz to confuse.
