Steering wheel conversion hubs? Derek?!
In trying to replace a beloved oddball steering wheel on my ( recently destroyed by a tree that I last posted about!) last ''67 2-door, I found an ancient archived thread from our own Derek.UK about using a late 60s to mid 70s Jeep CJ5 hub adapter?! Has anyone done this? If this is a thing, I guess I missed it but it would open up a lot of options.
Looking for a three spoke polished or matte perforated ( round holes) aluminum spoke wheel with a perforated leather rim, about 15" diameter. Motolita does make a beauty in their MK4 but I'm looking for options. Any help would be much appreciated. The stock wheel is very worn and I did love my old wheel, but it was unremoveable (believe me, I tried,) |

If anyone is wondering, search this forum for
"wooden steering wheel" and you'll find the thread. Last edited by c1800; Sep 10th, 2020 at 07:35. |

VP Autoparts list a hub for the 122/Amazon, they also sell Grant wheels.
You might inquire of them exactly what steering wheel the hub is for. http://212.247.61.152/us/main.aspx?p...cle&artno=6580 Also found the Hub referenced by Derek on Amazon.com https://www.amazon.com/Grant-4405-Sp.../dp/B000CMJ1XI |

No idea if this will fit the steering wheel you want but might: https://www.classicswede.co.uk/Steer..._19968189.aspx

I fitted a MotoLita boss and then a Mountney Wood Rim wheel... ( I had to drill i few extra hole to make it fit)
The boss is expensive for what it is but very little choice out there. There is a cheaper boss available but it has a smaller bolt pattern so i could not have the Mountney wheel.. |

I tried VP and they still have wheels, but no longer have hubs and apparently have no plans to carry them...that's what started my quest.
I tried Classic Swede and they show two in stock, but the add to cart button is inactive. Will try again later. In Derek's archived post, further down in the conversation, someone said they tried it but the hub didn't settle down far enough... Trying to avoid the situation I had previously where the wheel was apparently jammed on by the previous owner and was permanently married to the car! The Motolitas are beautiful but spendy; they sent me a very quick response to an inquiry, which was very nice. Just looking for options. Stateside would be nice, but U.K. is fine, |
