Default New owner and some questions.

Hi All, new owner of 2013 (2012MY) V60 D4. Come from a 160 Insignia SRI and a completely different car! (for the better).

so a few questions, i have googled and searched but nothing concrete found.

1 - The rear passenger door wont open/unlock, the window wont work and appears to have no power.

i have checked the loom and there is power there, but when it is plugged into the door, nothing. Googling shows this could be a module failure, but as the door is locked then unable to strip the door to check.

so any suggestions as to what could be tried to fix/reset? if i unplug the loom then the door indicates as 'open', but this may be a simple 'earth' connection. it was working the other week ok (well the window seemed temperamental) but nothing now, and no power (the door lock button isnt illuminated.

2 - I have tried a 32Gb usb stick with MP3's, with mixed success but it will just stop playing and report 'plug in USB' so are there any known issues or USB types that work well?

3 - Does the car have any hill start/auto hold on the handbrake or does it need to be activated every time (the insignia didnt, but the previous passat did)

4 - i have a spacesaver spare, i have read it needs a special floor fitting for it to go under the boot space and it loses a lot of room, is this true?

thanks

This might be a stupid question, but do you have the child locks on? The switch is on the driver’s door with the window switches. This stops the rear passengers from operating the windows, or opening the rear doors.

I can’t answer your question about the handbrake; I drive automatics so only use the handbrake when I park on a hill.

I never had any problems with USB when I had a V60

If you buy the Volvo spare wheel kit with the polystyrene wheel surround you may need a new floor if you have a model with the fold up shopping bag holder. This is because there’s an iron bar supporting the floor that’s in the way. However, I managed to fit a tempa spare under the floor of my V60 without the polystyrene part, but I had to remove the underfloor storage tray. It was a tight fit though.
