Default Electrics. Tow module fitted but no software?

Recently acquired XC90 with the OE Volvo detachable bar and electrics. Installed by dealer for 1st owner when new.

Tow module present.

However VIDA does not detect the TRW module and the core functions of the towing module do not function in the car.

i.e.

-Park assist does not automatically disengage
-Fog lights still work on the car
-Indicator symbol doesnt function on the dash.

However - the core functions (Lights) do work OK on the trailer.

So, is it possible that if the module is installed (but without software) that you would have working lights, but none of the fancy touches.....

Looking for definitive advice before I approach the original dealer.

Thanks

cant help with the
park assist and the fog lights .
i would imagine that they are part of the software from the dealer.
what i can tell you is that
Vida will not detect that the trailer module is fitted it does not on mine.
the trailer indicator function works on mine bottom right corner when trailer on.
this worked by just plug and play and no software.
hope that helps
mike

Hi Mike,

Just makes it more confusing to be honest !!

My old 01 V70 with the OE Volvo kit would flash the indicator symbol too.... interesting what you say about VIDA, as other posters have said that its detectable.

More opinions and internetting to do before approaching dealer me thinks !

I have just fitted the Volvo kit to my MY 2010 XC 90, three plugs to connect and everything works fine, without the software download, i believe that the download only knocks out the fog light on the vehicle when towing. Dead easy, 20 mins all in, no need to remove any side covers or anything, I found this information on the General XC 90 forum.
