tyres for 17
I'm looking for new tyres for my 17" V70R wheels to put on my standard, ie non-lowered 850 T5 Est. I know this is a tired old subject (please excuse the awful pun!), but when looking at mytyres.net and elsewhere, I notice that 205/45 ZR17 tyres are not that common.
I've heard people say that I could use 215/40 ZR17 for a closer rolling radius to that of the standard 205/50 ZR16, but the ride would be hard. Someone once told me that for a non-lowered 850 T5, 215/45 ZR17 tyres will not scrub on the front or back wheels, but they will scrub on the lowered cars like the 850R Can anyone confirm this? thanks Steve |

RE: tyres for 17
which tyres are the optimum size? It seems that 205/45 ZR17 tyres are expensive compared to 215/45 ZR17 tyres

RE: tyres for 17
From what I've seen in the past most people seem to find they scrub. Good fun isn't it when they make a car with non standard tyres. My old MR2 used to have 205/45 14 tyres on it. When I rang for prices from most places and gave them the size they told me what car I was driving (thats how few cars use that size!) and gave me prices of over 100 quid per boot for cheap z rated rubber.
