XC90 REM and Brake Relay
Hi,
I have what appears to be a common fault with my XC90 (56 plate D5) in that upon braking Im getting the high level light on but not the lower lights within the clusters. Ive tried to do my research, checked through the other threads, googled the life out of it and even invested in a set of workshop manuals. All the information I am getting suggests that the fix should be to replace the brake relay (15 if I remember correctly) within the REM. Also a test to prove/disprove the fault would be to swap it out with relay 16, the fog light relay. My issue is that my REM looks completely dissimilar to all the ones within any photos or diagrams that Ive found. The label suggests it is an H model and instead of 3 banks of relays I have 20 or so fuses and two large plugs (one brown, one black). I should say all fuses, both bulbs, the brake pedal micro switch and as far as I can ascertain the brake wiring from front to back appear sound. With this model of REM is there a relay somewhere else? Or should I now be considering CEM? If anyone has any thoughts, further info or has had similar issues Id appreciate the input. Cheers in advance! |

Thanks. Remember that many international members are on this forum, and identifying the age of a vehicle using the UK registration plate system means nothing to non-UK people like myself.
I think your REM uses electronics to switch the brake lights, and not relays. I might be wrong... I recommend you call Volvo Diagnsotic in London, he can likely fix the electronics for you, he's pretty good: http://volvodiagnostic.com/shop/index.php
