Default Alarm question

When in my 2003 S60 D5 yesterday playing with the steering boot, the horn and inicators started beeping and flashing. My alarm is usually sounded by the siren, but this was exactly like my old modeo alarm going off. Just wondered if anyone has seen or heard of this before? I know there is no aftermarket alarm on the car but this was just like a car alarm going off just through the horn not the siren.

Thanks

Have you ever had the siren going off? I am told (because my car is in for repairs and a new siren!) that if the siren fails completely the car will sound the alarm through the horn instead. Sounds a bit odd but I guess its a security matter to cover for siren failure?

I have heard the siren when ive tested the alarm and it was all re-newed a year ago so it shouldnt have failed already i wouldnt have thought, when it did fail it was only the indicators which flashed, no horn. Ive never heard the car do this before and couldnt replicate it!

I was in the car at the time with the door open and the horn and inicators started going off like an alarm! stopped when i pressed the "open" button on the fob so must be somehow alarm related. just strange!
