i think the cloth might come up well. it has hardly been sat in with only 20k on the clock - needs a really good clean - i think cloth was a 'luxury' item and mark my words thats about as luxurious as these things get!

There is a smaller club, but it has much more detail, it is called, "THE DAF PRESERVATION SOCIETY". The chap that runs it is called George Bailey and he lives in Stoke on Trent. What George does not know about these cars is not worth knowing. Added to that, he has the best stock of parts both new and second hand for all Daf Cars. He also holds coppies of the build dates of every Daf car ever made. Couple this with the fact that his wife is Dutch and her family live just down the road from the museum, where George sources most of his parts. If you join his club, you will pay less for parts than anywhere else in the world.

I KNOW THIS AFTER YEARS OF OWNING LOADS OF DAF'S INCLUDING A 55 MAROTHON THAT GEORGE FOUND FOR ME IN THE EXACT COLOUR THAT I WANTED.

Regards

Ian

Default DAF Owners Club have the answer

Hello there,
The DAF owners club will be able to answer your question on wether you DAF is tax exempt or not. They have the chassis number of the last DAF 66 produced in 1972, so can provide you with a certificate to confirm if your car was produced prior to Jan 1973.

This will be provided free if you are a member of the club, there is a charge of £30 pounds to a non-member. I hear cries of that's a bit steep, but it's only the same cost of joining the club for a year.

It's taken nearly 10 years to track down this information. So we are try to use this information to benefit the club and it's members.

That's not steep at all against the time taken to obtain the information, and the potential savings to be made.

Thanks for the advice, Simon.

cheers

James

Hello Clan and knowledgable-CVT-people

what is and if there any issue putting volvo 66s and CVT 300s on rolling road brake testers?

I understand the import centre at Ipswich had a rolling road they would put the CVTs on...any concerns for MOTs with rolling roads?

I know not to rev the CVTs in park though!!! (ie above the point the clutch engages and this significantly wears the friction plate and drive has nowhere to go if the transmission is in park)

thanks

Shimon

The simple answer is never mind what you hear, if you do put one of these cars on a rolling road, or even try to bump start the thing, then you will probably end up in hospital or werse! and the car will probably end up bouncing on its roof and smashing into anything in its way.
