Default x40 P2 preventative electrical upgrade (?)

Hi all

Been loving my V40, had it 6 months now and done 10K already.
I note that general feedback on car review sites is that V40s have solid mechanicals and slightly flaky electrics. Since I like my cars highly reliable I'm thinking about how to mitigate electrical problems that could otherwise disable it

I've already changed lots of bulbs (internal and external) for LEDs to reduce current usage (and potentially improve bulb lifetime & brightness while giving a better chance of getting it home if the alternator fails) and wired in a second cigarette lighter socket ganged to the radio switched power so that car phone / nav chargers cant flatten the battery if left plugged in

Was thinking about relays - x40s have a lot of them. Are most of them standard sorts? and how long do they last before becoming sticky? would it be worth it to replace the 11 yr old relays in mine with new replacements? I've read a few stories on here of electrical glitches that suggest at least some relays either fail to engage or to disengage under some circumstances

Might replace every fuse at the same time - I bought a box of 50 in varying sizes. Not sure if age or vibration makes fuses weaker, or even less blowable, or not..

Also, the battery in mine is small and obviously non-original. Manual suggests standard batteries top out at 72ah, which I assume was for the diesels. Would there be any risk of killing the charge controller or alternator if i put an 80 or 100ah battery in its place? this would be ganged with 8 watts of solar power permanently wired in , across the rear parcel shelf.

Having an outsize battery and solar on my old mondeo mk2 TD (infamous for short alternator life) saved myself a long walk or a motorway recovery on two occasions so this is a conversion thats close to my heart....

Thanks in advance for any insights, or for any suggestions about what else is worth preventative tweaking

Chris
