just to add.
a thermostat which is stuck in the open position can cause "bore wash" which as i understand means you could be running too rich, resulting in the excessive fuel washing the oil from around the cylinder bores and causing premature cylinder bore/piston ring wear. if this IS the case it's better done asap. |

Cheers, I'll be ordering it on Friday.
Does it have to be a from Volvo though? Or could I use a 3rd party thermostat? |

it dosn't have to be original volvo, however i tend to stay clear of the very cheap "pattern" parts.
there are of course some decent non original parts out there. try to find a decent branded item.all good spares suppliers will give you a adequate alternative.just be aware of chinese etc imports on ebay and the like. you really do get what you pay for,as these items are usually of poor quality and dont last or are not fit for purpose. hope this is helpful all the best shaun |

Got round to swapping it yesterday and this morning on the drive into work the needle climbed to the middle of the gauge and stayed there, even with the heater running \o/
