Does anybody know if the remote key fob for the alarm/central locking is different for Europe and the US on an 850R. If I buy one in the states, will I be able to programme it in the UK??????

The only difference that I can think of (if there is one) is the frequency that the fobs operate on.

I would ask the dealer over here or even Volvo Sweden what frequencies are used.

Just curious as to why you're looking to buy one in the States. My local main dealer has just provided me with a new key and remote fob for £8.50 each plus 0.3hr labour to re-programme. Forty quid all in.

My main dealer sells the VolvoGuard II fobs for £50, then want half hours labour on top to program them.

I have been quoted £55+ VAT for the remote, £75+ VAT for a new key plus programming and this comes out at nearly £200.

Who is your main dealer, and where are they located?

Thanks

Come on Hi Flyer,

We are all still waiting for the name of 'your local main dealer' in the Oxford area who charges £8.50 for new (transponder) key and £8.50 for a new remote for a Volvo 850.

My local main dealer would like to place an initial order 100 of each from them, and I will have a couple of dozen myself at that price.

Perhaps you have been flying TOO high and have suffered a bout of Hypoxia. IMHO, definitely has the distinct aroma of bovine droppings!!!!!!
