Default Ashtray Mechanism...

OK folks, question about above.... Took remaining bits of fake wood trim off and did in CF. Got ashtray out the centre console, but can I get it to go back??? The plastic grommet with the slot cut in it to seat the spring, can only fit one way into it's seating. The spring can only sit one way and no matter whether I set the spring in the slot with the ashtray cover open or closed, as soon as you cose or open, the tension comes off the spring and it pops off. Cannot fathom out how you get it to work - currently got a bolt, couple of washers and a nut so it has to be opened manually.......

I'll probably be embarassed about how bloody stupid I am but I'll ask anyway....!!!!!

I think you need to put the astray in its slot and push it together with the outer cover that you have CFed. That is at least how I remember I did it last time on a P1.
