2010 XC90 Exec for sale
Currently advertised on Autotrader, priced at the top of the range (£24,700 ono). Inscription Electric Silver. 24,000 gentle miles. No towing, no off-roading, no smoking, no pets.
It's been well looked after and garaged each night. Lots of extras, rear camera, front parking sensors, Volvo on-call, and now including the side bars (which I originally intended to keep) hence the price. Since it includes the Volvo extended warranty for the next 10 months I thought this would add security for the buyer, since ordinarily it can be a gamble buying privately. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...ge/1?logcode=p |

I think anyone thinking of selling their car through Autotrader should beware of the scammers.
I've received 6 scam enquiries this week, from "buyers" with similar names plus numbers, eg "andrewsherman123@gmail.com", or "isaacomari6@gmail.com", each with nonsense questions like "confirm the price", "can you send more photos", or with implausible stories about being on military service at the moment so will have to use an agent! |

i like winding them up. say, "yes i'll take a western union money gram for 5k more than than the asking price, i'll meet you *insert fictional pub car park* then either don't turn up or turn up with a £500 20 year old frontera"

Two more today:
gjames024@gmail.com ematthew696@gmail.com - his message was : "I’ve just picked up your advert from Autotrader. Is this the correct price and genuine mileage of your car. If you have more information/photos could you please let me have them. Regards, Matt" Had almost the same message from other supposed buyers. I also play along sometimes, asking them for more info and details. Did receive a reply from one of them who was deployed in the navy and wanted the car sight unseen for his daughter etc etc. A known scam attempt apparently. A pity there's no way of slapping them, actually or virtually :-) |

We have one of the guys from Autotraders fraud team who comes into our shop regularly, as it's only half a mile or so away, he tells me they actually block and stop hundreds of ads a day, all placed with fake/stolen card numbers and mostly originating from Nigerian IP addresses. But apparently people DO fall for it, time and time again, believing they are getting a genuine bargain.
