Thanks for all the help on this topic.
Although I have a worn rear wheel bearing, my problem turns out to be a slight bulge on one of the front tyres. Jacking up the front and rotating the wheel I could see the bulge. The tyres are 10 years old and due for a change. I have a newer spare and when fitted to the front, the vibration was completely gone! |

I had this on my 1800S and an Amazon. Both were rectified by new engine and gearbox mounts which were worn and made the prop run at the incorrect angle. It was particularly bad in my 1800 as the prop would touch the body occasionally!

Yep tyres are always the first culprit..I had many customers saying their suspension or wheel bearing was bad only to find the tyres had bandings gone and bulges, can be more difficult to detect when it is on the tread...
Seeing lots of tyre issues on MOT as some tyres are just Hong Kong Skid Alongs but because they are cheap and people have no money.......
