Default Haldex pump rebuild advice please?

Hi all,
I have done some diagnostics that suggest the haldex pre-charge pump on my 07 XC90 is faulty. I suppose it could just need a clean up and filter change, even though it is showing as open circuit which suggests it maybe more serious.

Has anyone got experience of trying to revive one of these pumps? At £200ish I feel reluctant to buy a new one till I've tried to resuscitate....

I was sure I read a thread with photos of just such a re-animation a while back, but can't find it...
thanks
Chris

snap I've seen something too but can't remember where.

I do recall that when the pump was withdrawn the small mesh filter as solid with "crud" and needed cleaning.
I also think there was something to do with the motor bushes being almost worn away to nothing and upon renewal ( guy made his own ) the motor was off and running..

That's what I would consider. If the motors bad what additional harm can you do

Did find this

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...mp-replacement
which gives an idea of what the motor looks like and how to gain access to the bushes.

(This is not the site I remember, but it might help)

Cheers

Bob

I had a similar problem with my 06 xc70, the brushes were worn away on the motor, sorted with a pair from an old drill filed to shape, i have since fitted a better set of brushes as i replaced with a new unit and now have the old one filed away as a spare.
