Useful tip for those that do DIY on their XC90 ?
Just discovered this useful time saver.
Today I have been servicing the Haldex unit on my 2007 XC90 D5 and at the same time putting a new rear propshaft CV joint on. On this model the Haldex pump is trapped in situ by the output flange from the Haldex therefore to remove the pump to check the filter etc you have to disconnect the propshaft and then remove this flange before the pump can be released. The flange centre securing nut is easily removed with an impact wrench however when reinstalling it, the securing nut needs to be tightened to 150nm and it needs some means of locking the flange in place to do this. I already had the crankshaft pulley locking tool from when I did the cambelt and it occurred to me that it might just fit the Haldex flange. It fits absolutely perfectly on mine which is the 86mm internal diameter one. It may just help someone in the future as it can also be used to release the centre securing nut if you don't have an impact gun. I know that many on this forum do most of their own maintenance and may just have this tool already on the shelf.

Hi S60D5-185
I've twice had an AWD warning light come on and the AWD not working (was a few months ago) so have got the parts to service the pump. Would I need this tool for my 2013 XC90? If so, is it this? https://www.lasertools.co.uk/product/5197 Thanks Last edited by drjarmin; Oct 27th, 2019 at 05:40. |

Hi, that is the same tool as mine but you have a much later Haldex unit and on those the pump can be removed without needing to disturb the propshaft or the flange,
You do not need that tool and have a much simpler task..
