Amazon Rev Counter
My 1966 Amazon was fitted with a Rev Counter with a Sun Tachograph control box. The control box is now rather knacked. Can anyone tell me anything about this system and where I might find a new/replacement control box.

Normally the control box (transmitter) plays a crucial role. On some of the Sun control boxes, the number of cylinders could be changed. The transmitter does just what it says: it transmits the the pulses from the coil and #1 plug, in order to determine the RPMs.
The transmitter can usually be rebuilt, just find a shop that works on tachometers and other gauges. Usually there are special capacitors inside that go bad. These transmitters cannot be purchased new. Is the Rev Counter (tachometer) that you have very nice? Do you have a picture? If not, then you can always buy a new Sun gauge that doesn't use a transmitter. It might cost the same as repairing the transmitter. http://www.sunpro.com/ This is my favorite tachometer: http://www.sunpro.com/product_detail.php?pid=16513 or for a more retro look: http://www.sunpro.com/product_detail.php?pid=16512 The original Volvo tachometers can still be found as well.

Hi Lukeball, thanks for the information. I will look into this and see if I can get mine operational again.
