Hi deepsix, I have a 2019 V90 CC which is not fitted with foglights. I thought that they would have been standard. The on/off button is there on the lighting stalk, next to the rear foglight button, so I assumed that the wiring must be there. Having looked through the photos of Volvo Selekt used cars, it would appear that they are only standard on V90 CC Pro & Plus models. After having Rear Park Assist Camera and Park Assist Pilot retro-fitted, I thought that I could get front foglight retro-fitted too. However, I contacted a number of dealers who said that it could not be done? So I will not be bothering. I would be interested to know if you find someone who will fit them. Cheers, JBD.

Deepsix, thanks for your reply. Notwithstanding the reports of their poor performance, which I appreciate, I have ordered a pair from a German reseller for 135 EUR delivered. They should be with me by the weekend and I will let you know how I get on with fitting them.

JBD, as far as I know, they were a dealer retrofit option at some point, but they appear to have been withdrawn. I have though found quite a few resellers who can supply them, hence my question about how to set about it.

Hi theonlyone, how did you get on with retrofitting the fog lights you ordered? did you encounter any major problems. I would be keen to this on my V90 (2018) too but I'm a bit apprehensive. of the work involved.

Front fogs SHOULD make a difference because they are much closer to the ground, the idea is so that they shine UNDER the fog. They most certainly help on mine, had a fair few foggy days of late down here, fog is usually just above the ground.

I also walk my dogs in the woods, in the dark, very early mornings, and to prove what ive just said, if i walked in the fog using my head torch and switched to my normal hand torch held with my arms hanging down, with torch pointed forward, ie as low to the floor as possible, i could see far further

I ordered the foglights from an aftermarket seller and the grilles necessary to mount them to a V90CC from Volvo. I got behind the grille to look for pre-installed wiring, but couldn't find any. I talked to a friendly Volvo tech who seemed to think he could help, but later got a more formal response from the garage that said that they they couldn't find the solution in their software, possibly because its not an upgrade solution that is formally available.

I returned the grille parts to Volvo, but I still have the lights as I was unable to return them.

The grille part numbers are below - I identified them from a US Volvo parts website - they seem to provide more information than the European ones.
31449194 and 31449195 Grille Molding
31383907 and 31383908 Grille Bracket

It all got too difficult, and I have got over the early enthusiasm of wanting to add them to my CC version. I have driven in fog since then, and don't feel like I'm missing them particularly. If they are as dim as the reversing light, then I'm probably justified in thinking that.

About the only time I use the front fogs (as opposed to the car using them as cornering lights, which I’m not convinced give much extra useful light) are to say thank you to oncoming traffic as I don’t fancy blinding them with main beam.

I remember my W124 Mercedes E having front fogs just inboard of the headlights, they really did give a very wide and short range beam. As the headlights were H4 and so dipped went off when you went onto main, the fogs filled in a bit there if you could be bothered to turn them on manually. The W140 S Class was the last MB design to have the fogs at headlight level, after that they all moved down to below the bumper.

Audi (and more of the VWs), BMW and Mercedes now have bad/all weather modes on their adaptive LED lights instead of front fogs, which are supposed to adjust the beam to reduce glare. No idea how effective that is.
