Default Pirelli : scorpion verde Vs zero’s

Just picked up new car
I had a 2010 xc70 d5 se lux with Pirelli Scorpion Verde’s . I tow regular, daily drive is motorway and suburban, but my house is down a lane. When I tow caravan it’s to small CL/CS grass sites, so my vehicles are used to pulling 1500kg around wet slippy fields without a issue.
What will my new v90 cc d5 with the Pirelli zeros on compare to old car? Anyone had experience of both vehicles and tyres?

Well today it finally happened. The answer to the question I’ve wondered about. Today we got snow. I’ve found out the answer. And the answer is zeros are absolutely rubbish in deep snow, light snow and slush. My old xc70 on scorpion verde all seasons was brilliant.

lol. P zeros are a sports tyre. I wouldn’t trust mine in more than a mm of snow tbh, particularly on the fat tyres mine has got.

Thats alright with a bit of training you can drive anywhere in the snow on summers.

Joking aside I hope you weren't surprised that summer tyres are pants in winter weather.

I was hoping that since it’s what was fitted to a brand new v90cc, that they would have been better than that

Just fitted Pirelli Sottozero's all round to my XC70.
Its early days and I've yet to test them in the snow, but they are quiet, unfazed by broken surfaces and in the wet they inspire a lot of confidence.

I put Michelin cross climates on my V60 just before Christmas and they’ve been excellent in the snow and ice we’ve had here.

I plan on using them as a winter tyre and switch back to the conti’s the car came with for the summer but if I was driving a normal car I’d be tempted just to stick with the cross climates all year round.

+1 for the Cross Climate tyres when it is time to change. They are supposed to be excellent in all sorts. I only have my V90 CC a week but it has been icy and sleety and I must say that, even on P-zeros, the AWD is amazing! I can't wait to see what it can do with proper rubber underneath.

Why would summer tyres be better just because they're fitted to a CC?

Thats why Range Rover drivers get stuck in winter weather with that sort of thought process. The best 4wd system in the world won't make any difference if you're using the wrong shoes.
