Which model and year do you have ? Always download and install the full Europe Map !

V90 Plus CC D5, early 2020.

Full euro map is 52GB, and I don't plan on driving to Kamchatka anytime soon so it feels a little like a hammer to crack a nut..

I can't comment for non-SPA cars but there's no need to install the full Europe map, installing smaller regions is fully supported and for 90% of users makes far more sense than the entire 51/52GB USB update.

Yes they reverted it back, because there was some issues with the map.

Usually the car telling you it´s to big just translates into: "Your Internet connection is to slow at the moment." Try again when you are in an other region with better connection or try connecting with your home wifi.

I also would recomment to do once a year a full update. And would do so always in favour of an partial usb update. The interface for the partial usb update is awful and it takes nearly as long as the full update in the car.
Only if you have a slow internet at home/work it makes sense to use it.
