My 2016 has them. Think it was part of an extra pack.

Pros:
  • Economy - I've averaged 50.5mpg since getting the car in March '20. This is over 7,700 miles and includes a trip to the Alps and two 800mile round trips to Scotland 6 up with roof box and bike on top.
  • Performance - nice to have when you want it.
  • Refinement - it's very quiet.
  • Interior looks.
  • Safety Features.

Cons:
  • The D3 felt more robust. Mine was worked fairly hard - everything felt 'engineered'. After 15 years it still looked like it came out of the showroom. I'll need to be more careful with the XC90.
  • Boot space - it lacks the absolute volume and weight capacity.
  • Third row space - headroom and footspace.
  • Lack of a split tailgate...

General
  • Reliability - so far so good.
  • The Sensus controls are less ergonomic than they should be.
  • Autopilot - it's functional but personally I don't find it smooth enough to use regularly.
Sorry took me a minute there. You don't mean a D3 in a Volvo sense, but in a Landrover sense!

I kept reading thinking "a D3, but which model?!"

Now I’m jealous I always thought it’s a disadvantage of the T8, but it looks like it’s a disadvantage of the XC60....
Don’t tell me you also got front fog lights....?

I was the same... Didn’t realise the post was about the Disco3 haha, should have really! Anyway yeh, great comparison now that ive re read it! I think a plus of the T8 over the disco with the 7 seats, is the boot space when the third row is being used, definitely bigger in the T8.

Nope. No need to be jealous. No space for front fogs even in the XC90.

So with the T8 when running on electric what happens when you approach a slip road or want a quick start? Do you have to wait whilst the engine starts up? That sounds massively slow and hesitant.

Or is it not like that?

It’s pretty much instantaneous. Feels like a bit of turbo lag is all.

I’ve never had any issues with quick pickup when you need it - it’s sensitive to the throttle activation speed and if you, say, make a small misjudgment on a roundabout it springs into action.

If I’m pulling out from a junction onto a fast A toad, I do drop it into AWD or power mode though in prep

Similarly I used to do the same when pulling off my estate onto what is a fast roundabout, especially in the morning when the engine has not been started yet. However of late I have devised a new method. Squash the brake pedal hard with your clutch foot and blip the throttle. The engine will immediately start and run for a minute or so to warm up. The engine will then be running already when I take my chance at the roundabout so eliminates the minor lag. I find it quicker and easier than dropping into power mode and then remembering to put it back into Hybrid.
